The build
This was Chris’ personal car for a long time, it was intended to be built from a late 50’s early sixties lense but built with straight line performance in mind, this car is a “war machine”. Many hard miles were put on her and plenty of light to light races before she also landed on the shores of Japan.
Engine & Drivetrain
1964 Buick 401 Nailhead stock with matching Buick automatic transmission, connected to a Currie 9” truetrac 3.50 geared posi w/31 spline axles and 11” drum brakes.
Body & Chasis
Stock 1929 ford body with almost all panels replaced using Brookville products including a new of doors. The body was channeled over the chassis 4” maintaining the stock model a sub-rails and floor. A 2” chopped windshield was used and a custom fabricated shorter bed using a stock tailgate. Chassis was fabricated with 4” rectangular tubing using model a front crossmember and horns and z’d 4” in the rear. A 1965 ford mustang box was used to steering the beast.
Suspension & Wheels
The front end was a simple 4” dropped axle with early style hairpins, round back spindles, model a front spring, and coilover rear suspension using Pete & Jakes ladder bars. 16x4” wheels were used with 750 rears and 550 fronts.
Interior
We built the seat and used the Cartouche door panel kit with a Lokar shifter, bell style steering wheel, and stewart warner gauges.
